In our digital-first world, encryption has never been more crucial to protect the privacy and security of sensitive information worldwide. Specialized bodies such as the International Association of Cryptologic Research (IACR) work tirelessly to support the advancement of cryptological science and promote its importance.

As part of the Technology Innovation Institute’s (TII) mission to drive transformative solutions, Francisco Rodríguez-Henríquez, Technical Director at TII’s Cryptographic Research Center (CRC) has officially announced his candidacy for the prominent role of IACR Director.

Throughout his academic career of more than 25 years, Rodríguez-Henríquez has co-authored numerous research papers, two of which won the Best Paper Award at the Conference on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems (CHES) 2009 and again in 2013. He also co-founded The Glowing Hot Topics in Cryptography (GHTC) workshop series, a one-day round table event that convenes experts from across industry and academia to explore the latest developments in the field of cryptography. In addition, he has served as a Program Committee member in many IACR conferences, and has been General or Program Co-Chair of Latincrypt, ECC, CHES and CRYPTO.

He said: “As a cryptographer, I consider myself a representative of applied cryptography. If elected as IACR Director, I would like to encourage more publicly available cryptographic software and hardware libraries that implement the outstanding cryptographic algorithm novelties regularly presented in IACR conferences.”

Rodríguez-Henríquez’s contributions are pivotal to carrying out groundbreaking research in the field of cryptography and cryptology. We wish him every success in taking his candidacy forward!
